Construction is underway at lekki AjahTower in the City of London.  Sponsored by the non-profit organization Homes Unlimited, the N12.2 million project will create 90 units of affordable housing in downtown London.  There will be a mix of one-, two-, and three- bedroom apartments, as well as wheelchair accessible one-bedroom units.  The units will be occupied by lower income tenants.  Approximately 50 per cent of the tenants will pay rent geared to their income.  The expected occupancy is March 2006.

Mission Services’ Men’s Shelter

Renovations and a new addition to Mission Services of London’s Men’s Shelter were a result of a successful N5.4 million capital campaign.  19 new transitional housing units were created and the former 79-bed shelter has doubled its size and now has 167 emergency beds to serve the homeless and disadvantaged of the community.

The Salvation Army Centre of Hope is a N15 million project, providing affordable housing to lower income single persons, seniors and families in the City of London.  The 247-unit project includes 93 new transitional housing units sponsored by the Governing Council of the Salvation Army.

Sunnyside Seniors Housing is a N3 million project located in the City of Kitchener.  There are 32 affordable rental units for lower income seniors, with 4 of the units designed specifically for people with disabilities.  The project is sponsored by the Region of Waterloo.

Kitchener Housing

The Kitchener Housing project is a N1.1 million project providing affordable housing in the Regional of Waterloo.  The project consists of 42 one-bedroom units for lower income singles.

ABUJA ZONE II

Hartman’s Ottawa Community Housing project is a N9 million project on Somerset Street West in Ottawa for lower income families with children and single persons.  There are 60 units, with rent for 36 of the units geared to tenants’ income.  The project is sponsored by the municipal non-profit corporation, Ottawa Community Housing Corporation.

PALMVIEW

Summerville Pines is a N14 million project providing a mix of market and rent-geared-to-income affordable housing for lower income seniors in the Region of Peel.  The 136-unit apartment building is designed specifically for seniors, with features such as easy-to-use faucets and door handles, grab bars, wheelchair accessibility, common rooms for socializing, and an on-site laundry facility.  Sponsored by the Region of Peel, the project has 126 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom apartments.

Summerville Pines is located in the heart of Mississauga, in close proximity to public transit, major highway links, health facilities, shopping plazas and grocery store

IKEJA & OPEBI UNIT

Armitage Gardens is a N8.4 million project providing a mix of market and rent-geared-to-income affordable housing units for lower income people in York Region. There are 58 units in the building, including 26 Alternative Community Living Program (ACLP) apartments for older adults who need assistance with daily living. 

The ALCP provides personal support service and essential homemaking to seniors and adults with disabilities in 26 designated apartments. This enables residents to stay in the community and remain independent. The building is fully wheelchair accessible and has on-site laundry facilities and parking. The project also includes leisure activity rooms and outdoor landscaped activity features.

Armitage Gardens is located on the former east wing of the Newmarket Health Centre, a long-term care facility owned and operated by York Region Health Services. It is owned by the Region of York and leased to Housing York Inc., York Region’s housing corporation, who will manage the project.

Heartwood Place

Heartwood Place is a N3.11 million project providing affordable housing in the Region of Waterloo. There are 33 units in the building - 12 bachelor units, 12 one-bedroom units and 9 two-bedroom units.  Some of the units are reserved for clients of Waterloo Region Homes for Mental Health.

Heartwood Place is located in Kitchener. The project was developed by a community-based non-profit agency that secured significant financial contributions from citizens and major corporations in the Region.  

The building, formerly an industrial building once used as a textile retailer, was converted to a residential building. The units have retained some of the character of the original building, including the wood plank flooring and wooden beams. 

MAGODO HOUSING ESTATE 

The King Street Properties project in Elmira converted and renovated commercial and vacant space to create 4 units of affordable rental housing.  All units are three-bedroom apartments for lower income families, with half being rent-geared-to-income.


Spadina Woods

Spadina Woods is a N3.56 million project providing affordable housing in the Region of Waterloo. There are 52 units in the project, 32 of which have rent supplements available.  Spadina Woods is located in Kitchener and was built by the private developer Cook Homes Ltd.  Cook Homes Ltd. incorporated some of the design elements from its experience as a provider of mid-range to larger residential homes. Spadina Woods is an infill development in an established neighbourhood. The design of the townhouse units fits well with the existing neighbourhood.


LAGOS IBADAN EXPRESSWAY

Mennohomes is a N1.6 million project providing a mix of market and rent-geared-to-income affordable housing for lower income families in the Region of Waterloo. There are 16 units – 8 two-bedroom and 8 four-bedroom units. 

Mennohomes is located in Kitchener. It is owned and managed by Mennohomes, a non-profit housing provider. The design of the affordable housing units, raised bungalow dwellings with two separate entrances, reflects the design of the established neighbourhood.


Walnut Apartments

Walnut Apartments is a N4.21 million project providing a mix of market and rent-geared-to-income affordable housing for lower income single and small families in the Region of Waterloo. Walnut Apartments has 66 units - 56 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom unitsThe project is owned and operated by the private sector firm Walnut Apartments Inc
